On the 1st of march we began our first week of rock climbing at the climbing wall in Greymouth we started with top rope climbing and Rob showed us the best ways to climb using our feet rather than relying on our hands to pull us up. in the afternoon we moved on to lead climbing we started with a top rope attached to us while we learnt and became comfortable clipping the rope in then moved on to lead climbing later on. The second day we traveled about 1 hour north of Greymouth to Charleston and climbed there during the morning in Ushers cove and practiced placing natural pro and setting up anchors in the afternoon. Thursday there was bad weather so we couldn't go to Charleston so we used the climbing wall again we learnt to prussok up a rope and seating up for an absail at the top of a climb. on Friday it cleared up so we were able to go back up to Charleston for the day. We spent the day setting up anchors. we set one anchor up the top and hung over the edge to test it. Then spent the rest of the day top rope climbing in Ushers cove.
